What Makes Non-Surgical Chin Augmentation (Kybella) So Popular?

Of all the Los Angeles non-surgical cosmetic procedures we offer at Aluna Centers, few are more popular than our chin augmentation treatment using Kybella. If you have a double chin that you can’t get rid no matter what you do, you’re probably wondering what options you have that don’t involve surgery.

Fortunately, you can get rid of that excess fat under your chin that by undergoing a relatively new treatment called Kybella which was approved in 2015 by the FDA for treating submental fullness (the technical term for double chin).

Kybella quickly became very popular all across the country as many people (both men & women) discovered that it was an affordable, non-invasive, and very effective way to get rid of stubborn fat under the chin by simply taking a series of injections.

Dr. Massoudi and his team have put together some information about our Los Angeles Kybella treatment for double chins, which is also called non-surgical chin augmentation, to help you decide if this treatment is right for you.

What is Kybella and How Does it Work?

Kybella is identical to something your body makes called deoxycholic acid, which works to break down and destroy fat cells. When injected into the fat under the chin, Kybella destroys the fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction of fullness under the chin.

A typical chin augmentation treatment using Kybella takes only about 30 minutes. During your appointment, Dr. Massoudi will carefully inject Kybella into the fat under your chin. When the treatment is done, you can immediately return to your daily activities as this treatment comes with little to no downtime!

There are a Few Side Effects, But Nothing Too Worrying

The most common side effects people experience after having Kybella treatment done include:

  • Some swelling & bruising
  • Numbness
  • Minor discomfort
  • Redness around the treatment area

These side effects are temporary and usually go away within a week. When compared to invasive chin reduction surgery, these side effects are far less severe and require no missed time from work.

You can expect to see a significant reduction of fat under your chin after you’ve had two to four treatment sessions done which are spaced about one month apart. If need be, you can receive up to six Kybella treatments.
